Fairford Medical To Discuss Improved Access To Cardiac-enabled Diagnostics At Bsci (british Society Of Cardiovascular Imaging) Conference This Week

Wednesday, May 15 2019

The BSCI highlighted the challenge of national CT Coronary Angiography provision in response to the NICE CG95 update 2016. We at Fairford recognise the report as highly significant, but also understand the real-life challenges of implementing the new NICE guidelines. We are equipment providers, which only solves one aspect of this multi-faceted problem. There is a severe lack of skilled Radiographers to carry out the highly skilled examinations in the first instance and there is also a lack of skilled level 2 and 3 practitioners to report on the images to make a diagnosis. It’s a fairly complex care pathway but we believe we can at least improve access to cardiac enabled diagnostics.

We attended the BSCI, BSCMR and BSNMR amalgamated meeting last year which was a first for the three bodies in their history! It was a fantastic event covering the latest techniques, AI, research and cross -professional collaboration over different modalities. We are very much looking forward to bringing our stand to the conference again this year to discuss in detail the systems we can provide to deliver high-end cardiac imaging. More importantly, we have designed and built our very own bespoke CT pod that can accommodate a cardiac-enabled CT. The pod is much cheaper than competitor options and we will be displaying the POD at the show, so please come and see us at stand 04 to talk about how we could help you. On a personal level, working with Fairford Medical to provide more cardiac-enabled systems is important to me. I worked clinically as a Cardiac CT radiographer at Glasgow royal infirmary alongside Dr Giles Roditi, the current President Elect of the British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging. At that time, I took part in some data collection for the National Dose Audit. I have always had a keen interest in Cardiac imaging and am delighted to be making a contribution to addressing the severe lack of provision in the UK.

The BSCI Conference is an important event in our calendar, not only to promote our services, but also to attend lectures and talks on the latest innovations. We are constantly looking to add to our fleet of systems and it’s invaluable for us to listen to the industry experts about the here and now, as well as looking at the direction of travel in terms of equipment and new techniques.
