Fairford Medical’s 1st ScanBox Gets An Upgrade!

Monday, June 8 2020

Fairford Medical has recently completed an upgrade to the Scanner in its first ever CT ScanBox.

The CT ScanBox that was brought to the market two years ago was initially fitted out with a Canon Aquilion 64.  However recently, the demand for higher quality, lower dose, extremely reliable CT Scanners, was fuelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Fairford Medical made a clinical decision to replace the older system with a second life Canon Aquilion Prime 160 Slice CT in order to offer up a suitable unit as quickly as possible when the crisis was reaching a peak

It took Fairford Medical 8 weeks to completely upgrade the ScanBox to accept the new unit and commission a new CT.  The refurbishment of the unit was completed by Fairford’s specialist coachbuilders who were an outstanding support to Fairford Medical and tackled the challenging rebuild and repair of a box that they hadn’t initially supplied.

CT Scanners continue to be in high demand from both the NHS and private healthcare sector as they desperately try to manage the huge backlog that has been created, and requirements still seem to be outstripping all the resources made available.

Lee Hansford and Nichola Baron from Fairford Medical oversaw the project from start to finish, liaising with the coachbuilders and Canon to ensure a strict completion date was achieved so the unit was ready to go straight back out for rental.
